Lake Chelan Health Board of Commissioners is accepting  letters of interest from community members that have a passion and interest for community involvement, leadership and a desire to grow and advance healthcare offerings in the Lake Chelan Valley who want to join the hospital Board.  Whether you have little experience or a lot of experience in healthcare or community leadership, it is a perfect opportunity to lead and be involved in the health and wellness future of the Lake Chelan Valley.

Lake Chelan Health Board

Lake Health is Chelan County Public Hospital District No. 2 with a governing Board of Commissioners that is made up of five members. Each member is elected by voters within the hospital district to a  six-year term. This means Lake Chelan Health is a community-created and community-owned government entity that has been granted authorization by state law to provide health services to residents within the public hospital district as well as others in our service area.

The Board of Commissioners as a whole are responsible for overseeing the Hospital District’s mission, vision, values, policies and organization with respect to the operation of the District, including the delivery of quality patient care.

Principal Powers and Duties:
RCW 70.44.060 sets forth powers and duties of Public Hospital Districts through its governing body, the Commission, and include but are not limited to:

• Power to acquire, construct, maintain, operate, develop and sell real property;
• Power to assess property taxes;
• Power to employ Hospital Administrator/Chief Executive Officer.

APPOINTMENT BY THE BOARD

The appointment for the vacant Board seat is for the interim period between the date of appointment to December 31, 2023.  If you are appointed for the interim period and choose to run for an elected term position, you will have until the filing deadline of May 2023 for the 2023 general election.  Open Board positions are available at-large to candidates who are residents of Chelan County Public Hospital District No.2 and registered voters.

Commissioners of Lake Chelan Health are:

  • Offered medical, dental and vision insurance for self and eligible dependents; must pay premiums for dependents.
  • Entitled to compensation as set and adjusted by statute. See RCW 70.44.050 for more information
